Bible Reading Today: Matthew 26:69-75

Peter is sitting out in the courtyard, and he disowns Jesus when a servant girl says, “You also were with Jesus of Galilee.” After this, he denies Jesus two more times and calls down curses. When the rooster crows, Peter remembers Jesus saying that he would deny Jesus three times, and he weeps bitterly.

Applications
  • Even though we are human and sometimes say things we do not mean to say when we are under pressure, we must always be careful with our words because they have the power to destroy our lives and the lives of those around us.

  • Next to crucifying Christ, Peter’s denial of Christ was one of the most notorious sins ever committed in history. However, even this sin was eventually forgiven, and Peter was restored. Never underestimate God’s ability to turn sins and curses into blessings.
